BAFTA/LA Member News Chairman's Surgery: Update from Nigel Lythgoe As you are probably aware I held my first BAFTA/LA 'surgery' at the office on Tuesday, August 31. It proved to be very worthwhile with some good ideas coming from the participants, some issues hopefully addressed and a wonderful offer of help for film producers in need of legal services. Not just legal services, by the way, but FREE legal services For full details please click here. I will be having another 'surgery' later this year where I hope we will be answering questions relating to the Academy and hearing your feedback on any matters relating to the Board and what we are doing. Best wishes, Nigel Chairman

BAFTA/LA Soccer vs The British Army's Pilgrims On September 18, 2010, the BAFTA/LA Soccer team will be participating in a special game against the British Army's team "The Pilgrims" on an outer field at the Home Depot Center prior to the LA Galaxy's MLS game. The Pilgrims’ Football Team is made up of soldiers from three units of Her Majesty’s British Armed Forces. The team has been in existence for many years, however, the members change on a frequent basis as they are called away on duty and replaced by individuals returning to base. The majority of the team has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan and will more than likely do so again in the future. The BAFTA/LA team are proud to be joining The Pilgrims for this special game, which will also see the lads wearing the latest BAFTA/LA kit, courtesy of new team sponsor Umbro. Full event details to follow shortly.

BAFTA/LA Soccer For several years now BAFTA/LA has operated a successful Soccer Team, playing regular friendly games against local teams as well as competing in leagues and competitions in the LA area. Although the team obviously aims for a good result at the final whistle, the team also focuses just as passionately on maintaining a positive spirit and a strong rapport amongst the lads. We are also looking at putting together an Over-40s team for a new league adventure this year. If you are a current BAFTA/LA Voting Member and interested in finding out more, we invite you to provide a little information about yourself, perhaps include a quick potted history of any previous soccer experience, and email us at office@baftala.org.
